Acrylic and Pumice on Canvas
Parrot is an original abstract painting on canvas by visual artist Shawn McNulty. This painting is is 1.5″ deep, gallery wrapped with painted edges, and ready to hang with wire on the back.
Fun Fact: Parrot was another painting that kept evolving. It’s interesting to note that I rotated the canvas 90° clockwise over halfway through the process. If I rotate the canvas, it’s usually 180° or turning it upside down. The composition started to look like a parrot, so I continued that form. The eyespot was already there. I don’t know a lot about tropical birds, but this seems to resemble a scarlet macaw which has a lifespan of up to 75 years. There is one in my neighborhood that I hear squawking all day long throughout the summer. Perhaps it is saying “Why do I live in Minnesota? My god, how did I get here?” This painting was part of my Elixir exhibition at Rosalux Gallery.
