Fun Fact: The definition of schism is “a division between strongly opposed parties, caused by differences in opinion.” On July 16, 1054, Patriarch of Constantinople Michael Cerularius was excommunicated, starting the “Great Schism” that formed the two biggest denominations in Christianity (Roman Catholic and Eastern Orthodox).
