Speeder

Slabs of red, yellow, and green rip through a scraped white ground, dragged and dissolved by black streaks that read as pure velocity. Pumice gives the surface a gritty, tactile tooth, so the paint catches light and shadow like bark flashing past at full throttle. The title came from the speeder bike chase through the forests of Endor in Return of the Jedi: that blur of trunks and color, everything a half-second from disappearing. The painting holds that moment still, with the surface torn open and the black edge pulling it tight.
