Fun Fact: Nightshade vegetables are from the family of plants with the Latin name Solanaceae. Common nightshades include tomatoes, potatoes, eggplants, and peppers. The origin of their name is allegedly from their dark and mystical past. There are rumors that they used to be used as narcotics and hallucinogens. While the vegetables from nightshades are edible, sometimes the plants and flowers can be poisonous. The most deadly nightshade is the belladonna.
