Fun Fact: The Chicago Water Tower is 183 feet tall and was built in 1869 by architect William W. Boyington from Lemont limestone. The tower gained notoriety after the Great Chicago Fire of 1871. The tower was the only public building in the fire zone to survive, and is one of the only surviving structures still standing.
